there good for green lane's good for motorway travel new's "truckers know best" you can always pick some one up on ch 19 "breaker"

Ok...don't shoot me down here in flames - how do you talk to someone on ch 19 that you don't know ?- I take it you hear someone talking to someone else- do you just interrupt or what ?

I was a regular on the CB many moons ago before mobile phones and the internet and it was very busy and generally good fun with lots of decent folk, i remember clearly when you would regularly struggle to find a free channel out of the 40 that wasnt in use.
I also used the side bands and had a laugh speaking to folk all over the world.
On local CB CH 19 was always the dedicated mobile channel, with 14 being the calling or breaking channel, although it all went tits up in the 90's and 14 stopped being used and 19 became the mobile and calling channel.
Day to day now the CB is dead and seems to be the preserve of unemployable dope heads who sit on CH19 talking sh1te, mostly about rolling joints and what their going to spend their giro on this week, thats if their not shouting abuse to anyone who dare try and use the CB as it was intended.
We also get taxi drivers using CB but not using it for taxi business, just for gassing as their going from job to job.
In Scotland most of the 4x4 community use channel 7 for off roading and green road runs etc, but I've never heard anyone from the 4x4 community using it day to day, quite alot of the decent CB'ers from yester year got sick of the nonsense on CB and got their amateur license and now tend to use the amateur frequencies for gassing.
