Morning all,

Here is my 1987 90 fitted with a 200tdi.
I only purchased 2 weeks ago so the fun has only just begun, here she is post scrub getting rid of all the mould and lichen...

Morning!
I’m busy sorting out the rear lights and came across a right birds nest behind the driver side stop/tail light. All the wires in the right of the picture all seem obsolete, many bare ended and quite a few joiners. Has anyone got any ideas of what they are/were for?

Rear lights on fender I’m doing is the same!! I don’t actually know how I’m gunna work it out :confused: I did figure same as above however that a few must be accessories/trailer wiring

I’ve got mine finished now, tidied the mess up and got all lights running on proper connectors so it’s all plug and play. Here’s the before and after....

So it’s been a while but I finally decided to get around to doing a few bits. I thought I’d start to remove some rust and also stop advertising britpart.

A couple of coats of Hammerite Kurust followed by Halfords Etch Primer.

3 or 4 coats of Halfords Satin Black and some shiny new mud flaps!

I’ve also started to upgrade the electrics a little after tracing an unreliable drivers dipped beam to a dodgy fuse terminal connection (glass fuses).

I’ve purchased three 8 way blade fuse holders from vehicle wiring products along with a few other bits and pieces.

And mounted them after a bit of cutting and filing. I decided to mount them horizontally so that I don’t run the risk of the wires being too short when I cut them off the old fuse box. There is going to be lots of room for extra bits of kit down the line. The fuse in the box is only temporary and was used to make sure that the cover still fits.

Nice dog and good work! Good to see you back on it. Make sure any wiring passing through body like that has grommets too mate
 
So it’s been a while since I’ve done anything to the Landy but I’m finally gearing up to getting rid of some of the rust and getting it all one colour. I’m thinking Keswick green in either gloss or satin with a black roof. What do people think?
So today I finally got round to the issue of my very rusty door frames….
First things first was a cheeky breakfast to start off on the right foot.

So with the doors off one at a time I did the following….

Door clamped to a work bench and the door skin folds heated up and bent out using a wide prybar. Then eased the skin gently from the door frame and separating the dum dum.
I then held the skin away from the frame using a couple of bits of wood.

Then I used two M8 studs to line up the hinge holes on the new repair section against the old door. I also measured from the mid door frame to the bottom of the door frame. The old frame was marked up for cutting.
The window guide lower fixing was also removed.

The old door frame was cut off.
Then I cleaned out all the old tape and corrosion/dirt etc.

Next the door skin internal was sprayed with Etch primer.

Then I applied closed cell foam tape to act as a barrier between the frame and skin.

The repair section was then lined up and tacked on, checked for squareness and straightness and then welded and flapper wheeled. The repair section was slightly bigger than the door frame but enough weld managed to sort it.
Once it had cooled down I then primed the framework and then carefully refitted the door skin before priming it all again.

The doors were then refitted. I will be doing further door improvements and painting them properly when I strip the body to paint it all and replace the cappings etc.

I also made a rather funny looking friend today. It’s either young or had a very heavy night out. It flew off and straight into the side of the neighbours van so I’m going for either!

I just managed to get a genuine Safari snorkel off eBay for £26. Bit of silicon oil to polish it back up and it’ll be like new! I do have to fabricate a mounting bracket for it though as that’s missing.
Im sure the brackets can be bought separately. There’s a company who have been featured in LRO a few times.

Good job on the door. I need to do mine, but looking for a cheap enough second set so I can keep it on the road. They are a bit worse than what you have there.

Keswick green with a black roof, granted it’s a 110, but gives you an idea.
