Got Kerbside Cars coming out tomorrow. He is a local mobile land rover expert so hopefully will find the faults. Will update with the result and costs.

Will be worth investing in your own diagnostics it will almost be a certainty it will pay for itself . Diagnostic kit with the P38 is as important as having a spare wheel :)

I have All Comms for my L322, MultiECU for the girlfriends Fiat 500 and OpCom/VaxCom for my dads Astra.

Kerbisde Cars Poole turned up and spent nearly 2 hours checking it over. Very nice bloke started with basics and found slightly dodgy solenoid wire on starter. Moving to fuse box got erratic readings from main relay. Got her cranking over and got engine check light on occasionally. Connected up rovercom and could not communicate. After bit of relay prodding got it to talk to BeCM and discovered amongst other things that EKA is disabled permanently : ). Tried to put it into learn mode but power to GEMS ECU did not come back after turning ignition off and on.

Basically intermittent power to GEMS ECU due to dodgy fuse box as suspected. Still waiting for new fuse box or would have tried this first. Was good to get the diagnostics on to confirm what I was thinking. Not celebrating yet as need new fuse box to test. He reckons 90% it's going to solve it or at least allow me to get power to the GEMS ECU.

Definitely recommend Kerb Side to anyone in Poole area seemed good price to me and he gave it a good check over in a methodical manner before going to diagnostics. Im sure some people charge this much just to plug the diagnostics in.

Should have said. Cost for diagnostics and nearly 2 hours of checking over was £40 with him coming to me, thought this was very reasonable.

New fuse box in (second hand from scrappy £20) Nothing. Pulled all relays swapped with old ones. Checked all connections tried again . . . Started first time with engine check light no re-sync even needed. Appears it was feed to GEMS ECU.

Thanks to all the people who offered advice especially Datatek who quite correctly identified fuse box issue.

Woohoo - well done chap and a great bit of patience and dedication - a truly deserving Range Rover owner....stick around we ain't a bad bunch....nowt worse than those that just turn up for help and then fook off, as you have noticed in your search for a solution to your issue...

If I still smoked, I'd have a cigar with you!

After running it about ten times just fuelled up won't start cranks well occasional splutter intermittent check engine light

Just gone to petrol station to have a look over and noticed that engine check light comes on after fuel pump stops priming. Primes for between 10 and 40 seconds. Think it is same problem as before but don't see what could have burn't out new fuse box within a few days. Was just building enough confidence in it to sell the golf when this happened.

Maybe fuel pump is weak and running it to empty has run it dry and finished it off? Am getting some pressure at the fuel rail valve but maybe not enough. Did get a splutter for few seconds on continuous crank for about 10 seconds but had nothing but cranking since.

Seems as if engine check light will only come on once fuel pump has primed or maybe it keeps priming until the GEMS ECU gives a good code. Any ideas?

As your replacement fuse box was second hand, perhaps it's fecked as well?

think that's probably the issue seems strange it worked fine abut ten times. Took it apart looked ok inside last night although it does not have the 2 diodes. Engine check light came on straight away on reconnection but still did not start,

You have to use the correct fuse box, there are several different types.
