I do have a very rare spare set of shells, should I try them before anything else or do some measuring first? This is a pain lol

yeah looking at the shells it was rubbing on the edge of a couple but then when I saw the much more rubbing in the middle of the majority it was less of a worry lol

if block was twisted youd expect contact marks to represent that

bugger, well you have seen the pics mate- does it seem that way?

will align boring fix that?

Ok, so put all the caps back on and torqued to the insane 110ftlbs that ARP recommend and then had a measure with a vernier, the v is for vertical and the H is horizontal but really it was more diagonal as I couldnt really get the verniers in there very well. All measurements in mm.

v / H
69 / 68.95
68.96 / 68.84
68.96 / 68.94
69.03 / 68.88
69.01 / 68.88

What do you think?

actually no, thing is those studs only work at 110, 55 would be way too loose for them to work according to r/s

what would you think, align bore?

v / H
69 / 68.95 2 thou
68.96 / 68.84 over 4 thou
68.96 / 68.94 less than 1 thou
69.03 / 68.88 2 thou
69.01 / 68.88 over 1 thou

cant see that those bolts are much better than std ,they are only as strong as block threads ,hard to say 1 or 2 thou can be expected but as you mentioned not accurately meaured, the point about checking at std torque was to see if extra torque caused distortion

I gathered that mate, too late now though as they are loctited in with high strength/temp loctite as per instructions. TBH I would go for the stander bolts if I had a do over.

Mark thanks for the conversion, so thats 4 thou out on one, Id better see if thats the worse one!

Who does align boring then? it would fix this right?

your not at line boring yet ,marks on shells didnt show a pattern to me ,4 thou isnt good but is it correct

so why is it so tight? hmmm glad I am not at align boring yet as not cheap lol
