Hello Stu, this is fat Dave here. If your budget is £2000, then I would say that you should spend no more than £1500 on the vehicle, leaving £500 for a DIY full service and any repairs.

This means for all practical purposes TD5 is out. So, TDi 200 started 1989 and ended back end of '93; TDi 300 started '94 and finished production in '98.

To be honest there's not a huge mechanical difference in them, however the interior is arguably nicer on the TDi 300.

Buy on condition is the best advice I can give, don't worry about model names or years. The single most important thing on this era of Discovery is rust - it kills off far more cars than mechanical issues.

If you buy one off these, you need to be good with a welder or you'll spend a fortune getting someone else to fix it for you.

Or someone will answer faqs to noobies anyway thus making a rod for everyones back cos they're insataible know it alls;)The best advice is to search btw
tosser

Yeah right - like I care damn what you think. Incidently, learn how to spell, otherwise your insults have less impact.

You're still just a sad tosser. Why else would you criticise someone for trying to help someone else?

Mummy didn't love you? Not enough hugs?

Ha ha, taking it a bit harsh aren't we.
Don't play well others?

The guy had already accepted that he should've searched first.

Name calling aint the way forward and you don't know me, accept it or not :)

If name-calling isn't the way forward, why did you say "Or someone will answer faqs to noobies anyway thus making a rod for everyones back cos they're insataible know it alls" You didn't edit your post fast enough.

As for not playing well with others, I'm having a great time right now!

I've seen enough to know you are only semi-literate.

I choose to write what I write.

I also, especially after ten minutes, can conjure up better insults :D

Your not worth anyones time even a semi-illiterate tosser like me:)

I have a rangey 300tdi, and tow a bailey senator Wyoming weighs about 1690kgs loaded.
Pulls like a train.. Does about 30+ mpg while towing. Extremely pleased with it.
Pull far better than the 2.8 Pajero I had. And double the mpg ..

Also best motor I have ever had..

It seems a tradition on here to insult and attack newbies.. Just ignore them..

All of them will tow fine just find the best example for ya money-i suspect this wont be the td5

That's because you've had more practice.:fencing:

Far better to be criticised for being helpful than for being rude and obstructive to a new member!

I know when I have posted problems on here myself it has been you has replied with useful information (and a few well known others) and not Freelaner!

i agree you don't have enough money food a good td5 but you have plenty for a good solid 300tdi plus they are easier to work on
