The trouble with saying 'search' is that a search will bring up loads of threads asking the same question where the only answer is 'search'

Far better if there is a FAQ thread then all the answers would be 'Look at the FAQ'

After reading a few of those even the thickest newbie should start looking for a thread called 'FAQ'

hi, im looking for a discovery to tow my lightish caravan, and a little gentle green laning (remember gentle !), day to day i drive like miss daisy.
i have a budget around the 2k mark but wondered on opinions which model / engine to look at, the 200/300/td5 i have seen all three in my price range, any advice or pointers good or bad about which one be really helpfull.
cheers in advance, Stu
For that money you will get a good, late 300 or might be lucky and get an ok td5 if your'e not in a hurry. Good Luck

fingers crossed it looks like ive had a bit of luck, a guy i know used to be a workshop manager for mann egertons has said he will sell me his X plate TD5, its in stunning condition and has never wanted for nothing, 102k, auto, 10 months mot & tax, after doing a little "searching" on here, and posts above, ive checked for rot and it seems pretty solid, no dash lights on, it drives without any noises or bangs, and the autobox is smooth and seemless, sunroofs are bone dry and all central locking and windows are working as they should, no leaks around engine or gearbox, and at £2000 if i get any suprises it will still be a cheap discovery, going by ebay prices, fingers crossed. Stu

Sounds good for £2k. Make sue no leaks from autobox, gets expensive.
Td5 is a good motor, from my experience, just watch out electrical gremlins, like injector loom
