Next thing i did was fit a 300tdi clutch pedal box, LOF PowerMASTER clutch master cylinder and uprated assist spring to make the clutch lighter. I have lower limb issues (long story) and the clutch was just too heavy for me.
Interestingly my actual clutch is barely worn HD item and the uprated LOF spring is to much so the pedal just stayed on the floor - phone call with Luke at LOF and he explained that that was because my clutch isnt worn enough to need it, he suggested put the standard spring on and then fit his LOF spring in future when the clutch wears enough to warrant it. Even with the standard spring the new master cylinder makes the clutch shockingly light.
All went well, tiny bit of superficial rust under the gasket area that was treated, then the clutch was gravity bled and after a couple of road tests it got it adjusted up properly. Clutch is genuinely one finger light.... rubbish video below.....
Any photos
Old MC - nothing wrong with it, just the LOF is betterer lol
Old out, some slight rust from where the gasket sat
So i treated it with red lead, then seam sealer then the new gasket (cut myself) then more seam sealer over the whole lot.
Then i set the clutch pedal height and free play at the MC
and that was it, all done,
makes a shocking difference, and i would highly recommend!
Costs:
- pedal box (as i had an old style that wouldnt take the assist spring) £20 from a breakers
- LOF kit £50
- sundries £10
so way cheaper than a servo assist system and IMO just as good!
