To change my leaky windscreen seal - it had a large perished gap in the rubber that let water in the top of the screen.
Old screen out fine, old screen and new seal in 90% then ‘crack’
A mate had a spare screen that was removed to upgrade to heated so I promptly broke that one aswell.
Plus point is the seal doesn’t leak now

Think in the long run it will be cheaper to get a pro to do it.
A seal is £20 which is all I wanted to change, I have now gone through 2 x windscreens, new ones are £50 each and my insurance for a screen is £75 so I might as well suck it up, move on and pay someone to do it..... I was only trying to save myself a bit of money lol

So, after some minor panel damage sustained while laning, I have spent the past few days doing this......
Before - landrover Vs Log. Log wins. FML.
So I got all the necessary parts and set about stripping the front.
Before painting and sorting out the new front panel in primer and nato green
Whilst I was there I sorted out and tidied the wiring for the sidelights etc, I did the drivers side aswell and took the opportunity to swap the indicators and side lights round as before the indicators were at the top, which is wrong.
I then bent the dents back as best I could, then used a panel beating hammer to coax the panel fixing holes to all line up again
Before reassembling everything and giving it another coat of paint, then putting all the lights back etc. To be honest it’s come out better than I was expecting.....
And just for a laugh, and to draw attention to the newly acquired ‘patina’ I added a sticker....

Message you some tips, it’s been a bit trial and error but I have a system now - it’s all down to prep and what roller you use

Callisr, mine was the same as yours. Peeling everywhere and ally corrosion in places. I used a paint remover gel from Homebase, good three goes over. This lifted all the loose stuff off and got me down to a much older layer of paint. I brushed it on and pressure washed it off. After that I wire brushed the ally corrosion, sanded all over to give a key. Then using gloss roller applied 2 coats of paint. Not perfect but looks a hell of a lot smarter than before.

I did very similar to Huddy but didn’t pressure wash - because it didn’t think of it, I just used a bristle brush.
I didn’t acrually sand mine, I just used a sandpaper sponge to ‘key’ the underlying good paint.
The best bit I found was to think the paint a tiny bit (I used white spirit) then do a panel at a time, roller it on using the small foam gloss roller and keep the roller moving until the paint just start to go tacky then switch out the roller for a fresh one and roller the paint flat - I found this got rid of the orange peel effect, and runs etc and gave a much flatter finish.
For awkward areas I used a good quality brush (not a budget cheapo).
It’s inportant bit to overload the roller either - I did several think costs - takes longer but gives a MUCH better finish.
Do it on a cool dry still day if you can so the paint doesn’t dry to fast

Nothing major recently, serviced it - all fluids etc. I still have a weep from the steering pump, and it still squeals but it is soldiering on. Will need replacing though at some point I think.....
Also got a weep from a diff nose, very minor, it just wets the diff but doesn’t drip onto the garage floor.
Also a slight leak that drips a very minimal amount off the back of the block i *think* it is from the back of the rocker cover and running down, so will check and change those seals when I next do the tappets (next year).
Also, I got some of the HD hood sticks, and a friend and I modified them and then built a low level roof rack out of unistrut. Gives a bit more load space rather than just piling everything like a cone in the tub. Will let the galv weather a bit then paint it all black.
Also got given a superb zarges box that goes in the tub a treat!
