Hmm photobucket finally deleted my photos after ignoring their emails for months.

Will sit down and re-upload them direct to the forum page by page!

In the meantime, rear diff leaking - investigated and the flange is quite scored, so new seal ordered (corteco) and new OEM flange and mud shield.

Going to do the front to and the 2 seals on the transfer box in due course to, as they are all leaking to a greater or lesser degree!

Know your pain, I found it a few years ago when none of my pictures worked and they were pretty much holding my account to ransom, I clicked the link to try an do something and poof it all disappeared before my eyes and never to be seen again.

It's a ball ache :(

Bad luck on the drive flange, I remember when speedisleeves were cheap and you could get them readily to repair the seal lands, times have certainly changed to the point where it's cheaper to get a whole new flange, seal, lock nut, felt washer and set of nuts an bolts for half the price of a speedisleeve these days.

Yeah for the price (£25 for OEM) it’s not worth the effort of turning it down then sleeving it to the right size tbh.

Parts won’t arrive until 3rd jan though :(

Kieth Gotts are open tomorrow and I'm heading there in the morning!!!

It always had some oil put in every couple of months but it was noisy for a couple of years before I got round to it:oops:

Woah.

Will pull mine apart later and have. Look, was the bearing hard to change or does it just pull out like the diff pinion bearings?

Drain the oil then spacers, large socket or something and keep winding the nut on to thread of shaft to withdraw the shaft is how I did it

Did some more minor repairs today, put some timesert threaded inserts in my thermostat housing as the jubille clip and stripped thread jsut wasnt cutting the mustard anymore. now leak free :)

couple of small lockdown tasks i did inbetween the weeks of mayhem at work.

first one was fit a small fusebox, i used the unused lighter feed and split it into 2 fused feeds, each one going to a seperate 'cigar socket' to put my phone charger etc in. These i just mounted in the sides of the military centre console, one for me and one for passengers.

I fitted a 6 fuse box but 4 of the ports are unused, then in future i can just run a cable direct straight from the battery, or use the unfused brown feed in the main loom, and add circuits as i need.

Next thing i did was fit a 300tdi clutch pedal box, LOF PowerMASTER clutch master cylinder and uprated assist spring to make the clutch lighter. I have lower limb issues (long story) and the clutch was just too heavy for me.

Interestingly my actual clutch is barely worn HD item and the uprated LOF spring is to much so the pedal just stayed on the floor - phone call with Luke at LOF and he explained that that was because my clutch isnt worn enough to need it, he suggested put the standard spring on and then fit his LOF spring in future when the clutch wears enough to warrant it. Even with the standard spring the new master cylinder makes the clutch shockingly light.

All went well, tiny bit of superficial rust under the gasket area that was treated, then the clutch was gravity bled and after a couple of road tests it got it adjusted up properly. Clutch is genuinely one finger light.... rubbish video below.....

Any photos
Old MC - nothing wrong with it, just the LOF is betterer lol

Old out, some slight rust from where the gasket sat
IMG_8567- resized.JPG

So i treated it with red lead, then seam sealer then the new gasket (cut myself) then more seam sealer over the whole lot.

Then i set the clutch pedal height and free play at the MC

and that was it, all done,

makes a shocking difference, and i would highly recommend!

Costs:
- pedal box (as i had an old style that wouldnt take the assist spring) £20 from a breakers
- LOF kit £50
- sundries £10

so way cheaper than a servo assist system and IMO just as good!

Nothing major. Just swapped out the front output seal in n the transfer box as it was steadily getting worse.

New corteco seal, new flange (old one was scored) and order is restored.

Bearing looks okay
