Looks like your waffles got a work out...LOL.

Cheers

Yep they did, and they have stood up quite well. Used them about 6/7 times Sunday for various vehicles as either traction mats or a bridge - they work good. Might get a second pair as they are only cheap

Okay, took the electric fan out today after it stopped working at the weekend, got it working on the bench but it sounds squeaky and rough so have ordered replacement viscous unit - as LR intended. Stripped out all the electrical fan loom as I hate snipped off redundant wires left in the loom, makes future wiring harder.

Hard - Wired in the cb finally using an ignition live off the back of the fuse box

Nice day laning Sunday. Some lovely long easy scenic lanes and a couple that were a challenge - one because of the tightness of it and one because of the how wet it was. We abandoned that one as it would have been to damaging to us and the lane.

Good day out.

My fuel light stay lit constantly now though despite the tank being full:confused:

Leith Hill?

Did a couple of small jobs this evening, spent about 30mins.

Fitted my new viscous fan unit - am picking up the cowling at the weekend from a fellow LZ’er. I binned off the electric fan I fitted 3 years ago after I killed it wading (not that deep either). I got it working again but have lost confidence in it because it fails to ‘off’ leaving you with no cooling! So I went back to as LR designed. *May* have to hange my top coolant hose as the fan catches the stupid RDX aluminium thing that holds the switch for the electric fan - I have zip ties it out the way at the moment but will see how it is with the cowl in place before changing it.

Also, fed up of my wiper arms falling off. Not sure why, I think it’s a shi.t design. I replaced the 2 spindle adaptors and fitted a new wiper arm to replace the one that got lost laning the other day. Except this time I tapped an m4 x0.70 thread and fitted some pointed grubscrews to ‘lock’ the wiper arms onto the spindles. Hopefully it works....

Okay today I cut a dirty big hole in my wing....

Why you ask? So I can fit a fresh air intake for the heater because the normal fresh air intake is used by a wingtop snorkel.

Been psyching myself up to do this for a few years.....

No more engine bay fresh air in the cab! Will at some point mask off the wing and spray the air intake with matt black paint, probably in about 3 years knowing me.

Fresh air? In the cab? That’s not right! It’ll never catch on!!:D
Looks a tidy job. Does it just use flexible ducting from the intake grille to the fan?

Looks good. Almost sporty lol

I was trying to get away with not doing it but the heater intake - even extended down to the headlight - definitely draws in fumey air.
Not noticeable when your driving about but in traffic or idling for long periods it definitely gets fumey in the cab so sucked it up and got out the saw.....

Definitely think it needs spray painting though, probably satin black

So.

While cleaning the mud out I poked at the passenger footwell and made a hole. What a dick move. So I cut out the bad bit, and cut off all the rusty double skin bit in the back.

Then welded a plate over the top, wasn’t actually that easy as I stick welded it with my r-tech arc welder.
IMG_1960- resized.JPG

Went okay but I had to do a series of small welds so not to blow holes. Looks like **** but seems to be solid. Painted with anti-rust paint and when that’s dry I will use underbody sealer on the back of the footwell to protect it a bit. Have priced up new footwells on YRM....

Don’t judge me, I am not a welder and have never welded stuff this thin. Have emailed r-tech to see if they will part-ex my stick for a mig...

was not easy tbh, had to turn the welder right down, but it was okay tbh. should last a while at least

Well that didn’t go according to plan......
