Does anyone know how to get the rear door speakers to work??

Ive got a 300 tdi disco and ive recently replaced the standard headunit with a nice new one with a ipod dock. but when i was fitting it i noticed that the wiring loom (iso cable) does not include the rear door speaker and amp.
so ive now lost all bass.
anyone know of a away of getting the rear speakers to work???

i have the same problem and it p*sses me right off ! i dont like things not to work as they should. i was told there is a second amp under the glove box and it could be this that is faulty but i got power to the rear door amp but no speaker power from sterio to rear door amp/speakers. i was gonna ask this me self when the weather got a bit warmer, i hate working with cold fingers :( so i will second this question ! :clap2:
 
i think as far as i know the amp should be on a switched live so it should be coming on and going off, but there is no sound getting to the amp to be amplified, which im guessing is the two wires that dont connect to the iso.
There must be a way of doing it!
i cant work it out at the moment.... just thought id put the question out there!!

There are three circuits to the rear sub. 12+v amp power taken from the head unit supply, (light green/orange wire at the amp, also a local earth wire which is black at the amp).
The 12+v amp switching wire (purple/yellow at the amp).
The audio signal cable (black & white wires in a screened cable).

So match up the circuits to the outputs of your head unit and connect.
I suspect that you will have to adjust the pre-out level on your head unit to match the door sub amp.

i was thinking this ? there is a lil plug (orange i think) with the said two wires in. i have a + feed to the rear amp that is live when ignition is on. surley there is a simpler way than having to retrace the wiring back and 'make' connections ? these two wires MUST do something ? im sure once you know what they do then it is a simple job to get the rear amp working ?

Adjusting the Pre-out, controls the input sensitivity "gain" of the signal to the amp measured in millivolts.
The discos head unit and sub amp are a matched pair so the head unit does not have any user adjustment, nether does the cheaper units on the marker which don't have a pre-out/s to connect to additional amplifiers.
 
i have 3 pre outs on the new head unit. front, back and sub. if i got a set of phono cables and cut the connector off and soldered the phonos on to the wires and then plugged that into the preout would that work??

Top stuff then jimbo with having three pre-outs (should call them Preamp Outputs) your manual will tell you how to adjust the gain as always start low and increase till your happy with the sound. Power to the back door amp T into the head unit supply and you should have a switched 12v output from the unit use that to control the amp off and on. Some peole like to turn off the sub amp at some time I don't know who.
 
the phono cables have a braided outer 'wire' and the solid center wire which do you solder to the black wire and red wire on the orange plug ?
 
of course.... the phonos have two wires per phono so there would be 4 wires to connect to 2 wires.
i have a head ache..... why is this so complicated.... i just want some bass. lol
 
i cant get me head round it ? if it cant be solved in here im gonna track the wires back from the rear amp to the stereo and get it sorted once and for all. ...... but not untill the weather gets a bit warmer :D

Ive got a 300 tdi disco and ive recently replaced the standard stereo with a nice new one with a ipod plug. but when i was fitting it i noticed that the land rover wiring loom with stereo plugs has an extra plug with two wires comming from it. the new stereo has pluged into the origional land rover loom plugs but this 'extra plug' cannot be connected and now the rear door amp/speakers wont work.
anyone know of a away of getting the rear speakers to work???

solder the phono "tip" wire(centre) to the assumed positive connection on the orange plug, which for the sake of getting job done we'll call red.
Then phono "sleeve" to black(negative).
This will be okay it is consistent with domestic speaker wiring color coding, It'll still work if its not right, but the audio signal from the rear speakers will be out of phase with the front ones and will sound like it is either wacking you round the back of the head or like its coming up from under your stomach.
You might even like it, or it may be a necessary reverse for your set up.

I finished work early today so set out to sort this problem once and for all...
I soldered one rca connector using the centre wire only on the rca. To just the red wire of the existing connector.
Then plugged that into the subout preout on my head unit. which i can control on the headunit.
and if by magic it works!!!
i now have a nice sounding system.
i was feeling so chuffed with myself i replaced the speakers as well with some nice Vibe FLI ones.
not bad for a couple of hours work!!

so what ablout the black wire ? and the 'braided' outer wire on the rca ?
