I knew that I would need to replace my clutch release bearing when I bought my 1997 110 CSW 300Tdi... I have an increasingly frequent 'whirring' noise on start up that stops as soon as I push the clutch pedal. The clutch also feels gritty at times with an occasional shudder when starting off. Its not getting any better and an oil leak (gear box out job) will force my hand soon.
I am looking at getting the bits online and I have a good landy mechanic to do the job.
I am having a look online and first thing is the clutch release bearing... £35 for genuine and £10 for Britpart/Bearmach on Lrseries site. I know certain Britpart things are not so good but what about bearings?
I will replace the clutch plate and release fork plus oil seal..... anyone recommend a good clutch plate make (apart from Land Rover) and any other bits I should replace?
What bits would you buy if doing this job?..... many thanks
