from my last reply to them(printed below) you should have some idea.paid by cheque, already taken from account
as normal the chance of getting money back from a garage is pretty hard
so have chosen what should be the easier option.
hi andy/dave
please tell me, what is the point of me wasting even more time and petrol, going back up to your garage to have a motor that has been proved twice, by yourselves, not to work on my car.?
(1) it did not work first time, I spent 3 days testing all concerned electronics on my car,and found no faults with my car, the last thing I expected was a fault with new motor, but finally I checked it out and found out that the motor had 2 wires not connected, I could have then, according to trading standards rules and regulations, insisted on another new motor as it was,
goods & materials supplied as part of the service should be of a satisfactory quality i.e. free from defects. If the trader has failed to fulfil the above requirements then he should come back and replace the item, without additional cost.
however I didn't
(2) I brought it back, you repaired the 2 unattached wires on the motor, it still did not work on my car.so I was asked to book it in for a whole day, so that you could find out what the problem was, probably finding some sort of reason for it not working, at my expense. sorry but I was not falling for that one. I took the car to a friend of mine,( who by the way is a range rover mechanic) he removed the high/low motor from his car(same make, model, year as mine) fitted it onto mine worked perfectly, fitted your motor onto his, with all of the same faults showing as with mine, so obviously the motor is definitely at fault(only thing changed from car to car, same fault went from car to car).
(3)without anyone touching the motor I took it back up to yourselves, stating that it is definitely the motor at fault and I needed a replacement new motor ASAP as my friend needs his back soon.
(4)now apparently without anyone doing a second repair on the motor, it works perfectly on a different p38(year, model unspecified)
if this is true, then there could be only 2 reasons
(1) intermittent fault, therefore requiring new replacement .under warranty
(2)wrong motor supplied for my car. requiring correct new replacement .under warranty
So until you get a correct new replacement high/low motor for my car(without additional cost to me) I cannot see any point in coming back up there and yet again wasting yours and my time playing with my car
I await your reply, but not too long(as you know friend needs his motor back)
