I found with an L series FL1 the brakes were very poor but all the post 2001 FL's I've driven the brakes are great. As good as any other car I've driven which includes Mercs, Fords, Vauxhall, VAG group etc.

It’s a series 2a. Petrol. I think I took the original tank out. The gauge is the fuel gauge. I guess first question is can I use a new positive sender with negative setup?

We have a 2010 Freelander 2. The Chassis sticker that should be on the B post is no longer there. We have the VIN number, I know the paint colour of the vehicle, recorded as ‘white’ on the V5 and according to Landrover in 2010 the white was...

No, not a standard one, I tried.. you can if you cut the cat exhaust in half and that depends if you keeping it or not.

Definitely a very useful perspective for me to learn from - from my point of view I was mostly referring to the fact that it has the same engine/design etc but in a heavier and longer body (100-300kg difference?). This defender is unlike anything...

Clutch judder isn't the same as clutch slip. You say that after first gear it is "mostly" fine. Could you clarify what you mean by that? Does it slip going up hills, especially in higher gears? Clutch judder can be caused by a variety of...

Greetings, My dad has an 1998 110 300TDI Defender. We had it since 2013 and when we bought it the clutch used to slip at 1st gear on hills. We tought just the clutch was going bad and kept it and it actually was fine for years it just slip at 1st...

So just got back from dropping W off at Carcassonne airport. As she is going for longer she packed one smallish bag and took a big handbag. They told her, "that is two bags." We remonstrated a bit and W explained how much medication, spare stoma...

CPS maybe for engine light, you need a code reader to verify the code. Squealing noise could be related to anything attached to the auxiliary belt. Diesel pump? Do you mean the fuel pump in the tank?

...bbbbut you said, sort of, that it was Lloyd Loom in your first post about it, just a tiny bit mispelt. So I think we all thort you had got what it was!! No matter, now you know! It is funny, but great stuff. We have a pair of bedside...

On Thursday, my beloved Landy of 23 years was stolen from a garage in Bromyard, Herefordshire. It has been seen in the west midlands area. Heartbroken 😭

Went to me bike club annual rally and track day this week, went on Wednesday and got home this morning. Superb few days and meet ups with mates who I only see once a year. I don't take to the track anymore, but I can still drink beer and have...

I’m going to take the roof off. Repaint the underside and replace the seals and windscreen to roof seal. Just need a period of dry weather.
  • hef19898
That'll be a quick fix, I'll simply attach different connectors to the old wiring. That'll have to do for now.

Lunch, and rain, break update: the main and engine harnesses are out. No idea why one would attach the engine harness using a inlet manifold bolt so. Anyway, the engine harness is more difficult than the main one, I did not expect that...

Easier to chuck in the bin than try a warranty claim! Have fitted Terrafirma, like the front. Britpart in my experience, used to be excellent. I ran a 300tdi for 100K and over 14 years until 2017, on mainly Britpart. It deceased with 165,000 on...

Met @meego yesterday and had a look over it and found what seemed to be an embarrassingly simple fix to my steering rattle problem. Turns out one of the bolts on the top steering column UJ was loose as well as play in the front left side wheel...

Snowpack posted the thread Engine bay squeal! in TD5.
Hello, When starting my 2001 Defender 90 TD5 today, I was met with a high-pitched squeal coming from the engine bay area - the diesel pump wasn't working and the sound lasted several seconds but not long enough for me to open the bonnet to more...

I fitted mine dry. Both surfaces cleaned thoroughly. Do not over tighten. That's when leaks occur.

Not strictly true as the Brotpart cellular dynamics and springs are doing well on my son's Ninety, the same shocks are doing well on his D2. Failed miserably on my 90 as mentioned. Brake calipers and discs doing well on the D2. To be fair in...

Must admit, I left the exhaust connected at the front when I changed the rear subframe. Just wrestling the rear end down onto supports was bad enough (on your back, on the floor, on your own)
