I'll give Ashcroft a call one of these days, they should know. Seems the compatibility of RRCs and Disco 1s, and between early 2-door RRCs, later RRCs and those post 1985, only goes so far. A pity the workshop manuals do not come with technical...

You need a way of 'unweighting' the front axle. 2 axle stands or best a 4 post ramp and a jacking beam. You can then (with someone to help) give everything a good shake and see whats loose.

I have the subs and separate little amp and only fitted a jvc Bluetooth unit. No problems with the installation. My son had noises through his speakers that came from the white connectors in the left foot well👍

À good question, you may have to get in there and let us know your findings 🤔

Haha...well..I've currently got a blood blistered index from that bloody clamp!
  • sierrafery
I can't see any reason for that

ok, so the most that can happen damage wise is over heated brakes? no damage to the transmition? the truck is used in mud not rocks were a sudden jolt would occur always apreciate your input :)

If some people didnt have problems means that they were lucky to not get into the worst scenario, if you lock the diff while the engine is running the TC will work normally then if you get stuck turn ignition off then on as the lights to come on...

As someone who has used and owned both what do you think a 90 does better? Other than having a slightly smaller turning circle due to length for everything else it is the same vehicle, same engines, same performance. There is no difference in...

i was hoping to hear from lots of people that they had connected the cdl and used it with the tc and never had a problem lol,,, there must be quiet a few done it

I too have a death wobble but at very strange timing. I got my front tires replaced and balanced due to a snapped tire wire. I kept the tire that had a snapped wire on for about 6 months. Very hard to find defender tires where I am based...

Yeah so the way I see it the 90 can do some things a little better, but the 110 can simply do things the 90 cannot (due to space) which makes it compelling for long term ownership, BUT I think with a little extra storage and things such a a tow...

The TC warning light has nothing to do with the wire i mentioned, not affected, cutting that wire the ECU will not "know" that the diff is locked and the TC can come in conflict with the locked diff in some cases that's all, while the newer ECU...

Most likely need to clear the fault. Find a diagnostics tool specific to defenders and clear the code
  • B
well i certainly wasnt going to cut the wire :) , i need to know when the cdl is engaged with the light lol
  • sierrafery
It does only with the new SLABS... with early ECU if the CDL input wire was cut there are scenarios when you can lose traction for good and overheat the brakes... you can borrow nanocom for a week on ebay if you can't find somebody to help
  • B
i get that but the whole point of me fitting the cdl linkage was to be able to use them both together as by all reports saying that it improves the off road ability :)

Any help would be bloody awesome..I've been reading up for ages..
  • sierrafery
Just lock the diff before you start the engine as the ABS/TC lights to be on then the TC will not work against the CDL...provided that the wire i mentioned was not cut

ok well ive no way of replrograming the later slab so i guess i will just have to run the truck as it is and hope the cdl and tc play nice together lol
  • F
Although, if I was given strong evidence that mine are the wrong way around, I really wouldn't be bothered to take them off and refit them.

Daughter got a 2007 FL2..mines 2010..died, diagnostics said GLOW PLUGS & CRANK SENSOR..So both have been replaced now but its jst winding and not starting. I thought it could be air in the fuel lines so I got my hand pump and did that. Still no...

My brother-in-law's fairly modern BMW blew an ECU about 18 months ago. 6 months and 1 x ECU and new key later the local garage gave up and sent it back to him with an ABS fault and a bill for £1400. Then another 6 months and 1 x ECU and 2 new...
