Yh sorry mate I’m probably getting you confused yes I’ve sorted the non start problem (new crank sensor). I’m going to try and clean the alternator see if it makes a difference if not I think I should replace. The question I’m asking is can a...

Finished the welding on the inner wings, was a bit of a mission. I found a bit which was missed/butchered previously & was letting water in. Ive no idea why they didnt weld it but decided to fill it with silicone. that was the easiest part...

I'm thinking he will prolly sort this without, but that said all D2 owners need at least a Foxwell if not a Nanocom!!;)

Well, it would have been nice if he had mentioned the non start was fixed and I could have saved the 15 secs it took me to write my post.

It was me, my Ninety has series metal caps. Whack on with rubber mallet with smear of sealer on the edge.

I am thinking you will be needing to buy an appropriate scanning tool.
  • Stanleysteamer
Forgive me if I am being thick, but do you mean that the non-start problem was down to the Crank position sensor that you fitted? "so I replaced that and the crank sensor " Anyway, that is one problem out of the way. So it is still looking like...

Alloys are going to be replaced by fake Wolf wheels. It's on a 1989 Ninety, whatever spline that is, will have to check.
  • miktdish
It is .... it's held on with 5 wee studs and 10mm nylocs. FTC1379 I always wondered what the wee holes were for of the brake disk ... No good for me on my 1994 300tdi, I think the axle is a replacement (Disco ?) by the PO/renovator. Anyone need...

Hello all I have a 2001 disco td5 10p I believe. It has this weird air/ vacuum diff lock system that switches it on and off via a actuator looking thing (sorry I’m new to discos) how can I remove this method and use it manually any help or...

Yes, 170NM (i've got the MOD document somewhere too).

I fixed the non start problem it was crank shaft sensor. The bloke. Who I purchased the disco from went to slindon off road track and I drove it home and the clutch went so I replaced that and the crank sensor and it started then this morning I...

Nowt else for it as its knocked off every morning & the feeder is almost empty.

Ps they do them as a kit also, iirc. You get the Allen cap hub fasteners, which allow you more flexibility with alloys, and some other bits.
  • julianf
Yep, but.. You need to make sure they match up with your age of half shafts (spline number) so don't just buy the exact ones linked to, as that may not be the right code. Getting the seal out of the rear axel isn't complex but it's not a 5 min...

Yep, so you remove the oxidisation, but what is oxydised is the clear coat, or paint. You remove tiny amounts each time you do it but eventually it is possible to be killing it with kindness. If you don't have oxydisation, use simple wax type polish.

Starter motor could also be full of mud disrupting the crank sensor reading for your non start problem. Mine was doing that.

Without pics and other indications, we don't know. It could be some aftermarket thing. Many do come with it inbuilt, but not all. I fitted one not long ago, I bought a trad dizzy and a kit to convert it to elelctronic ignition. It all sat...

If the whole flipping thing is covered in mud I'd start by carefully cleaning it all off. Especially the alternator. It might just be an intermittent short circuit orr a bit of mud cloggin a brush. I agree, I don't think it is the batt either.

From the depths of my memory I want to say it’s 170Nm but I will have a dig around my saved documents and check.
  • julianf
You can get the ashcroft / terrafirma screw on ones also, and remove the half shaft seal on the rears, for oil lubricated bearings.

Will definitely check that once we have the engine back together. Can the valve block/ change over be tested with soapy water or is that a non serviceable item and has to be replaced? Cheers 👍

What style of clutch pedal do you have? If the later flat bar type the spring sits in plastic “bushings” that can squeak as they wear.

I agree with the above. A wheel nut is a wheel nut. I run wolf wheels on my series and td5 and am In The same position as @miktdish with the studs half a thread short and have no problems. I have not bothered swapping to the longer wheel studs...
