The garage I was forced to use by unfortunate circumstance used that approach on my 2005 rear right wheel bearing replacement a few weeks ago. BTW, I couldn`t believe how much noise a bearing "starting" to fail created in the cabin. Good luck!

sorry so long to reply. she not got good the main under parts bent and the trans naked as car was moved a good 16 ft with hand brake on when came to take hand brake of had to pull with two hands to get it off. not to many straight parts left on...

Find something to hold the clutch from rotating & release centre nut or bolt. Then wriggle the clutch a bit & it should come off.

I had mine repaired by a local diesel specialist in January. It can be done yourself but I initially thought the pump was needing replacement, hence getting it done instead of doing it myself.
