I have a Zenith 36IV carburettor in my Series 3. When I got it some of the screws holding the castings together were missing. I am having problems with it leaking from the gasket, I’m assuming due to the missing screws. Does anyone know what size and thread these are?

The ones I have are mismatched so I’m not confident they are correct. I’ve tried searching online but can’t find what size they are, and none of the refurbishment kits have them. I’d rather fix the one I have rather than buy a new one as I hear the copy ones aren’t as good.

Thanks

what castings the 2 manifolds?

I’ve taken a picture. It’s the ones on the corners I’ve pointed arrows at. You can see someone attempted to use mismatched bolts in place of the missing screws but one of these doesn’t seem to be the correct thread and you can see the fuel leaking out.

The top cover screws are 601889 x 2 (short) and 601888 x 2 (long). They seem to be M6 thread, although a regular M6 screw is a loose fit (or maybe my carb is just worn!). The short screws are 23mm and the long ones are 38mm. If you can't find the exact part numbers, I think regular M6 hardware should work fine, unless the top cover or the carb body is warped - I believe this is a common problem with the Zenith 36IV.

Thanks that is very helpful. I can only find them under the part numbers from John Craddocks who I would rather avoid currently. Some other places have one set of screws but not the others. Think I'll just have to try M6 for now.
