I put it down to old age................
If I had the cash and if the parts were still around I'd build a D1 from the ground up and fix every problem as I went along, I love the simplicity of the D1 but don't love the leaks and drips.
erm what sort of hummer the gay ones the plebs who want 'bling' drive or the original military one?
a money no object disco i would buy a 200tdi 3 door commercial and a chieftain ARV........ so i didn't have to have a winch
Beat me too it there.
Money being no object, I d find a late D1 and have a " nut and bolt " restoration done on it.
Bodywork stripped right back, all corrosion cut out and replaced and have it repainted and undersealed at usuall corrosion points.
Chassis stripped, repaired and gavanized.
Axles completely renovated inside and out.
Engine/gearbox rebuilt.
Every single part on it that could be new, would be.
I think youd end up with something pretty unique.
Then I,d extend the " stables " so I could park it next to my 60 reg, modded up Defender for P&P days, my Audi RS4 and the Veyron Sport.
