Yeah , I have a used one which I am cleaning at the moment, its got some dirty oil in it and there was a few iron filings on the sump magnet so I dont know if I should use it??

I have heard more bad things about this mechanic the more 4x4 places I speak to, sounds like a right chimp!:doh:

Can't you try driving it like it is for a while and doing a few oil changes yourself in the meantime to see if it gets better,drop the oil when its hot (being carefull).for what it will cost it must be woth a go?

Yeah at the mo I can still use it , but either when monkey man comes to pick it up or when I next need it on the motorway in the next few weeks it will fully screw it again I bet, then its a bit more urgent as its not really good to drive it in first for a mile lol.

I stripped my spare far enough to see the govenor, if thers crap in there you wont get it out with an oil change. I was hoping to get my new oil to settle down a bit and glue the crap back where it belongs and stop it floating about!

Question for you: looking at your avatar you have a classic? I left my handbrake on the other day (well after all this happened) and also the tyers were touching the kirb. No matter how hard I hit the gas(not realising the handbrake was on) it would not budge. I guess the torque converter is a bit tired too? it pulls away good normally, quite quick!
Is yours the same?

Mine is a manual,the handbrakes on classics are very strong and even on mine you can't pull off when its on,mine sticks now and again but if you reverse it frees off no problems.

If the torque coverter is good with the wheels locked it should limit the engine revs no matter how hard you push the accelerator, it will also overheat pretty quick. Used to use the technique of left foot on the brakes, right foot floor the accelerator, then release brakes for a sprint start

With 7 litres of V8 and 2 wheel drive it use to leave lots of black lines in the road and plenty of tyre smoke

Well it gradually seems to be getting better on its own and is still usable at the moment (I like when they do that)am praying to God monkey doesnt screw it up tomorrow when he drives it!:doh:
