Sorterd no1 was cracked ..(.easy fix tbh .ground it out and welded it up a hour job ..
I imagine that after welding and grinding
youd have fragments of ally and grinding wheel everywhere.
Why?
Completely agree but that weld looks good enough once all cleaned up to seal against the O ring. I'd be more worried about all the grinding dust thats now sitting in your oilways. What form of welding did you use TIG?Stupid to weld an alloy head in situ and built up,the whole head should be stripped, degreased and pre heated prior to welding.(Not even thinking about letting it cool slowly in a controlled manner after) Esp bearing in mind the poor reputation of the casting in the first place. The material is not too clever and has a lot of impurities in it,any attempt at a weld repair should take all precautions possible.Or it will only end in tears and make yet another clever English engines reputation worse.
Crickey. That was brave to weld and grind in situ.![]()

myself ,, thanks for the positive comment ,, ive built a fair amount of projects tbh , I call diy style with good results,,,Not that little bit, very little heat to the head at all. And if care is taken no grinding or metal will get into the engine.
Who ever did that did a quality job....... well done
Not good, even as a diy job.Even as simple as the valve stem seals being fried. Its not hard to make a small Tig weld look good, but you cant guarantee freedom from porosity/cracking without a proper strip, degrease, vee out, preheat and weld. Then recut injector hole and pressure test.
You might be lucky and get away with it - good luck if you do.Just don't try charging it out to a customer,it will bit you on the arse and destroy any good reputation you are trying to build.
