I've moved to GEM Recovery, they were cheaper than AA or RAC for full cover. Fortunately I haven't had to test their service yet. I refuse breakdown cover along with my insurance as we'd have to pay it 4 times!
 
We have RAC cover with the C&CC, covers European cover and trailer.

Never used any recovery service, but if you're 1000 miles from home and the engine goes tits up, what are you going to do?

Philip's episode with the ignition coil pack on his V8 in southern France is a classic example. We had a spare coil pack and leads at the factory and the means to get it UPS'd to the campsite, but not everyone has that facility.

Never needed it yet, weve got several tow vehicles and a big trailer so recovery is no problem, been called by mates a few times when they've broken down and helped them out. They'd do the same for me.
 
the way I look at it is paying £85 for breakdown is cheaper than fuel in moest cases when your away from home , especially if you tend to actually use it
 
Id rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it...

we go all over the place with the caravan (and kids) so would rather not be stuck waiting for a mate to come and pick us up and be abel to have the RAC come and get us in an hour or so.
 
I/we have it.

Not bothered for meself and the 90, but when the wife and kids are with me, and the caravan it's been invaluable and easily paid for itself for many more years.
 
I wouldn't want to be without it. Especially the facility to take you to your destination. When I'm at the other end of the country it's useful to know that someone will get the car home for you. It's a lot easier sourcing spare parts and doing repairs in relative comfort than in the sort of places where I like to go, which are remote and rural. I see on my AA membership it says I'm allowed five recoveries a year. I haven't needed them for 18 months but in my first six months or so of ownership I needed them quite a lot.

Ditto. Last time I used the RAC it was because the grub screw inside the top of my gearstick had same loose on the motorway. Was pulled off the motorway and left there to wait for a private reccy contractor. Thought stuff it, took it apart and fixed it myself within a half hour. I drove home the 15 miles and was in the house over an hour before the reccy truck phoned me to say he would be with me on another half hour. No thanks

Now you mention it I may have it through NFU fully comp too :D win !!
