Yehh I agree. I'm amazed and chuffed at the price that I have been offered. I was just looking for a cheap solution to buying one, not getting cheap insurance, if you get me?

If I had disco alloys on for example and didn't tell them I wouldn't expect anything back but standard steelies. I certainly wouldn't be annoyed that they wouldn't pay for alloys!

A truck bumped into my mate while he was parked, bent the rear quarter abut but he hardly even knew it happned ( he was sat in it at the time) and he got hounded by a company begging him to go and get a dr's note saying he was hurt to get him more money. Anyway they virtualy made him have 2k without the dr's note! They wanted to get him 4k with a dr's note! Madness...
 
The thing is with these companies, they will settle for 2 grand rather than pursue a long court battle, solicitors fees etc which will cost far more even if they win...so in a crazy way its cheaper for them to just give you 2 grand....

karlos dont worry about sean hes just a miserable old c**k who since his return has had no real input and a holier than thou attitude.

I assume it was a dig at me since i have another thread about alloys on my 110 (which came with it not by choice) that i wanted to swap for steelies. Yes the insurance know it has land rover alloys on it and did they ask "ooh are they rated for your vehicle"?

quick answer. Did they fook ;)

As long as you tell the insurance then you should be ok but nothing is guaranteed.
 
I once had an old Mk1 Ford Escort stolen that I had fitted some Wolfrace alloys to. Same size wheels and tyres etc. Just not the original steels.

The insurance company who I had not told about the wheels cut my final pay out by a 1/4 because they said the wheels made the vehicle more likely to be stolen. No amount of arguing would change their minds. Even when the car was recovered (complete with the wheels but missing its engine) they still would not aknowledge that the type of wheels had nothing to do with why the car was taken.

Cheeky buggers then asked me if I wanted to buy the car back but they bumped the asking price BECAUSE it had alloys. I'll leave it to your imagination as to what I told them to do with it.

and for what it's worth it wasn't a dig aimed at you, but i hope that now that your neck is fully wound out that it might make you change the wheels for some that are correctly rated

if you read the thread I already was planning to change them in the near future, your sh1t does not bother me but I used to respect your input and was even happy to see you back on here.

all you have done since you came back is make crap comments from what I have read that arent even funny so why bother.

Yes you have 13000+ posts and your earlier stuff has helped me a lot but I think you need to remove that fooking great chip from your shoulder and come back down to the real world.

There is only one lord.......



and that is pikey ;)

Back to topic, sorry girls!

I insured my 90 td with replacement 200 tdi with M&S and it is such a common replacement that they have a specific model which is a 90 CSW td TDi. It is the same cost to insure (£85) but has the right engine on the description.
 
Il ring up for a quote with the engine swap and see what comes of it. Probe the best people to ask! For all I kno it might not even go up!
 
I'm 33 and got my 90's insurance through Footman James classic policy, mine was a TDi now has a Nissan LD28 turbo unit in it, £120 fully comp with my younger(27) brother in law as a named driver, no mileage limit, roadside assistance, legal etc. and most importantly no hassle, they put me on hold for a few mins to check about the engine mod then came back and said it would make no difference to the quote and if I needed to I could have up to 3 minor mods before it would effect the policy. Just had renewal and up £10. All in all thumbs up from me for Footman James and for telling your insurers all about the mods on your motor.
 
when my defender was stolen in january i reported it to the insurance and just before they just paid out they asked me to send a copy of my license to them. My mrs took the insurance out for me online and she didnt know or i forget to tell her that i had a drink drive conviction on my license from 4 years ago. They slapped £1700 on my premium and i had to pay them that before they paid me £3500 for my defender. It was my own fault in every way. they will find anything to get them out of paying you
 
yehh i agree with that.^

so do insurers class an engine change as a 'minor' mod? any one with admiral get a quote for engine changes? i wish my premium was 120! £800 and im chuffed! just need to find the landy to match! :-(
