Purchased an EGR bypass kit but it came with extra gaskets/blanking plates for an EGR cooler.

Whilst fitting the actual egr i also noticed there's nowhere on the new egr for the small breather pipe that connected to the old one to go.

It states it's for my model & i noticed whilst trawling through past threads that a cooler was fitted to auto versions at some point. Mine is Manual.

I have no problem cleaning the old part and refitting but figured i'd ask here on the off chance someone knows conclusively whether they have a cooler or not.

Much appreciated!

keep in mind re. new mot rules ..
i.e. you may have to temp. refit the egr valve ..

a.f.a.i.k. .. the auto's have a cooler .. via a coolant circuit ..
the manual's don't .. except for some braided mesh type thing .. air cooled ..

Many thanks that's answered in full. I feared i got the wrong one.

I may just get a new standard egr in the future if the new mot rules are as stated.

Again, greatly appreciated!

I just refitted my EGR as my MOT is this coming week. I don't know if I am imagining it but the engine seems quieter than when it had the bypass on.
Am I imagining it?

Am I imagining it?
Probably not. The EGR passes some CO2 back into the inlet manifold. This reduces the amount O2 available to burn fuel, so less fuel burned
This reduces the size of the explosion in the cylinder, and noise
So it's entirely possible for the engine to sound less clattery when the EGR is working.

I did not know the egr had a water cooled egr they have a water cooled auto box oil cooler

The auto has water cooled everything. Engine, gearbox, IRD and EGR gasses. All FL1s also an air cooled fuel cooler and an air cooled charge cooler. ;)
