Would a Defender Tubular manifold increas performance?

I'm toying with the idea of getting a full stainless system for my 110 CSW, but if I'm going to the trouble of a full system, I'd like to replace the exhaust manifold with a tubular 4 into one type stainless affair.

1. Would it be possible? Is there enough space to get the required bends before the exhaust goes into the turbo?
2. Would it be beneficial? Would there be a performance gain to it? I presume 4 separate exhausts, each with it's own gasket would solve the sheared bolt issue on modified engines.
3. has it been done before?
 
Cheers T1G, can you find me a similar one, that I might be able to afford without having to remortgage my house!?!?!
I wonder why Ian didn't separate the pipes, to stop the sheared stud problem...
 
I thought they should all be the same too, thats why I was concerned there might not be enough space to do it..
 
Yeah you have to try and get them as close to the same length as possible and also the bore size of the pipe needs to be as close to the limit as possible to get the most performance out of your exhuast. I think you can find the max size of the pipes in the car manual or surf around on the internet.
 
equal lengh manifolds are not such a big issue on turbo charged engines, espicially if its a day to day deisel with some added grunt, only really becomes a problem when you get in to very finely tuned race built turbo engines, equal lengh manifolds are more important with tuned n/a engines, the purpose of the above mentioned manifold is simply to get as much exhaust gas out as quick as possible as tuning a deisel purely relys on geting as much in and out as quick as possible
