Would 10k get me a nice Land Rover Discovery 3? Is high mileage ok?

Hi all newbie here hope you're all well. Im looking to buy a Land Rover Discovery 3 and have a 10k budget, would this get me a good one, reliable etc and should I be concerned at the high mileage some seem to have? Can these things go for ever? Any particular model I should go for? Also do some come with a sunroof?

Yes you'd get a D3 for 10k today. High mileage is ok assuming the cambelt was done at 107k

Pre 2008 have some issues (diffs amongst other things) and post 2008 have others like EPC

Not aware of any with Sun roofs - they all have ac so not normally required

There is a good buyers guide on disco3.co.uk worth a read.

Thanks any other tips, when buying what questions should I ask, for example you mentioned the cambelt at 107k anything else like this?

Yes, Disco 3 does have a cam belt.

You can get em with sunroofs too.

I only paid £450 for my first Disco, £250 for the second and £187 for the one I is picking up on Monday K,L,M reg in that order, they are or were all nice

Dunno and you first point still stands ac is better. Me pops hse gaylander has ac and a sunroof. Sounds like two upcoming faults to me.

You could get a top end D2 with change left over for 10k, or even a decent defender.

Yeah but d2s are really boring... D3s have TDV6 engines and are nicer

Fender is a different beast for different purposes

And for the next one you're hoping that someone will pay you to take it off their hands

We traded ours in for 10 K but you wouldn't want that one

1) Yes, D2's are boring

2) D3's are crap and even more unreliable than a D2

3) Defenders? would have one if I could afford it

Got a d3 I love it no faults drives great paid more then your long but that was a while ago.

1 d2 are rusty junk

2 d3s need looking after but I love mine and It can tow well and doesnt look like it will fall apart like a clown car in a crash

3 defenders what can I say, they are so badly made they keep me busy

4 dont touch a d3 hse with those leaky sunroofs,must be same team that designed sunroofs from d1 to d4

No, D2's have a great shape to them and are not boring whereas D3s and 4s are just big shoeboxes

D2s are not rusty junk..... ok not as rusty as D1s

fender = tratter

Is there any disadvantages from having a manual over an automatic?
