Right then.......had a duff battery last week but was starting the car (just)...then last Sunday I went to start the car and nothing, all warning lights came on ok, including check engine light . There were no clicks or anything just like if I didn't have it in 'park'..

I tried jump starting it...nothing, even went out and bought a new battery, still nothing....

I have managed to remove and test the starter motor, which works fine. I have refitted the starter but still nothing, so I but a jumper cable across the starter solenoid with the ignition on and hey presto...it started....but not with the key.....

So first issue..is where do I start looking to solve this issue. I have rigged up a switch to jump the starter solenoid for the time being...

Now I can start the engine, the suspension won't go up...it's flashing but the compressor won't kick in... I have checked the thermal cutoff and that's ok, I have tried jumping the eas relay in the fuse box, but the compressor won't kick in...

Is the first issue contributing to the second? Have I bypassed something?

What's the next steps.

I have tried my faultmate, but it's not showing any faults....

All suggestions welcome
 
Have had a look around that and all 'looks' ok, top and bottom and does not smell of burning or anything...
 
Ok...I assumed the 30a maxi fuse was one of the ones in the main fuse box...but there are no 30a maxi ones...where is it located?

Ps all of the main fuse box maxi fuses are ok...

There is no 30 amp maxi fuse on a 2001 model. Look at maxi fuses then fuse 40, 40 amp that runs relay 16 (starter relay) and relay 20 (EAS relay).

Do you have an idiots guide on how to test if the relays good ( apart from swapping them around)

Swapping them is quickest way, you would need a multimeter across the circuit pins and power to the pull pins otherwise.

Thanks very much..... It was indeed the 40amp fuse, although I had already checked, obviously not close enough, it was melted on the side, not very obvious.....

Solved both issues , Starting & EAS

I wonder what the next 'challenge' will be?
