Hi friends, quick question as I'm waiting for the recovery now,
On my way back to home the disco started rattling with a power loss doing only 55 mph , and I pulled over and suddenly stopped, I don't know whether recovering the car home or garage, because if it the loom , ECU oil or even fuel pump I could do it by myself, what do you think about causes?
The car tries to start
I'm so sorry for being so quick but I have to decide
Thank you very much indeed

Mine died suddenly, I found it was the crank sensor had failed.
When you say tries to start , does it fire at all? or just turn over?

Another thing to check is if the fuel pump is working, even if it makes a noise , it does not mean it is supplying the correct volume / pressure to the FPR.

Cheers

Thank you very much neilly, the car cranks but doesn't start, and when I got home I noticed a whiring noise coming from rear so I assume itsi the pump and now the engine fail light flashes when I try to start it.
By the way I was waiting for the recovery 7hours last night from AA , absolutely ridiculous.
And in regards to the fuel pump, I have seen one in john craddock for about £70 is that any good? Do I need any seal or something apart from the pump?
Thanks again

Volquette... if your Disco starts up fine this morning after a night of sitting, it could be the crankshaft position sensor (CPS) as neilly stated. A failing CPS will allow the engine to start once it's cooled down.
If it is the CPS at fault, get a Bosch #0261210158 unit. I've found the cheaper CPS units crap out after a couple of months. A 7mm & 8mm socket paired to a 1/4" ratchet will remove it.

When I was driving after rattling and power loss I pulled over in a lay-by and when I pulled the clutch down in order to get the neutral the car stopped and never started up again , I tried several times while I was waiting for the recovery but unsuccessful yt

Unscrew the sensor/blanking plug off the bottom of the fuel filter in the offside rear wheelarch and crank the engine to see if you have fuel flow

Update! As Iancorky suggested, I removed the cap and drained the filter out and cranked the engine andand noth but a few drops falling down.
I also removed the ECU looking for oil, and there was a tiny drop of oil, nothing important.
And I don't know if this detail is important but while this issue came up I had to pull over due to traffic and the car had a terrible shaking .

your filter or pump are blocked or pumps failed

tonight I´ll get a new pump then!, would you recommend a john craddock one for about £70 is that any good? or it´s worth to go for a siemens one
Cheers!
