hey guys I’m looking at purchasing a set of wolfs at a very good price always wanted them so seem like a good deal they are the tubed version however. Do I need to run specific tires to fit tubes or can I just fit what ever I want with a tube inside?
Thanks in advance!

By and large you can run any tyre and just put a tube in it. However some modern tyres not designed for tubes may have a rough inner surface that may wear and puncture a tube more quickly. But most will be fine.

Whatever you do, don't be tempted to run without tubes. You will get utter morons who claim they have done this for years. But the reality is they simply haven't a clue.

In the above the photo the rim on the left is tubeless one. Notice it has some extra ridges/bumps just in from the rim edge. This is the bead seat. As you inflate a tyre the bead will push against this and hold the tyre tight on the rim. Without this bead seat the tyre could slip inwards to the middle of rim, such as under hard cornering or over obstacles (pot hole etc). Should this happen the tyre would explosively decompress while you are driving. Which evidently could lead to an accident.

Should such an event occur and it was discovered, it could pose issues with insurance and potential legal action from the Police as the vehicle would have been unfit and unsafe for road use.

Thanks very much for that info I certainly wasn’t going to run it without an inter tube I’ll look into tires and what manufactures say thanks a lot!

I run XZL tubed on wolfs, I just replaced the two front tyres after ten years of use, they really are that good!
I would second these. I run them on my wolf wheels fitted to the series. Cannot fault them for my usage. If you are more road biased the XPC are good too.
