I have fitted a few rocker switches to my defender. They work fine but the led lights won't come on when the switches are on. Each switch has four connections. I have connected the two on one side to the live and feed, the two on the left are free at the moment. I have tried every which way to get the lights to illuminate without success. I have tried using an earth on one of the terminals and the feed wire jumped across on the other but it doesn't work. They do light on their own with a live and an earth but when I connect the other wires they don't work. Any ideas? Thanks in advance,

OK, looking at the circuit that's being switched. Are you switching the ground or the +12 volts?
The one thing to bear in mind is that your little light should indicate the state of the circuit which means that it should be wired across the device that's being powered on, and not across the switch, if that makes sense.
Here are a couple of my infamous hand drawn diagrams:

Thanks for your response. The right hand drawing is the one I am using. I am sure that I tried that route - jumping the feed (to a relay) with a short wire across the switch to one of the free connectors and then connecting an earth to the other. It makes sense so I will try it again tomorrow. Maybe I had the two wires around the wrong way, against the led's proper circuit. Thanks again. I'll let you know how it goes. Just to mention ,The switch has the LED on the button so I will have to jump the switch
