Fitting a temp gauge in the top hose of the 200tdi and have a couple of questions.
Please see photo attached for reference.
1. Can I use a jumper wire from the 12v ignition connector, on the gauge, to the bulb?
2. Can I use a jumper wire from bulb earth to gauge earth connector and then use one common earth wire and earth point for the whole shebang?
3. I realise the bulb will be on all the time with ignition.
Hope some of that makes sense!

An Earth is an Earth…. Doesn’t matter which or where it is really.

Why not wire it in to the side light circuit?

I could do that but wondered if it was OK to wire it the way I suggested.

Yes, but as you have pointed out, the bulb will be 'always on'.

Thank you, I might possibly do it your way, makes more sense.
Although any additional add ons I have done before I run from a separate fuse box so potential problems are separate to the vehicle loom. Also makes returning to stock easier.
Thanks for the advice.

In the end I used a switched live and the earth from behind the radio, I also used that for the bulb.
The gauge is mounted next to the radio so was an easy option.
