I just read my post back, i meant the old fuse type harness was sitting there.. so that was the original from my 1986 90.. I just messaged a guy on ebay who was breaking a defender and asked him if he had a blade fuse harness, he said yes.. £40.. obviously i snapped it up, drove there the next day to collect, obviously didnt really know what he was selling..
I replaced mine as the fuses were coming lose alot so had to remove them and bent the terminals together all the time.. also there were a few scotch locks knocking around so wanted a blade fuse harness from the start.. te be honest it didnt take that long.. I pulled out the old one on the friday, (then found out we were getting heavy snow on the monday.. so i managed to get the old one out and the new one and engnie running by the sunday, i left the dashboard off for work on monday but everything was working fine by then so doesnt take long at all, theres a few posts on here worth reading from people who have changed them before..
Make sure you mark everything, and its worth laying the new one out and understandning where each group of wires is going.. pretty easy job in my opinion.. had a few problems with the fuel solenoid but that was the shoddy job someone had done twisting wires together in the engnie bay etc etc... make sure you're happy where everything sits, i.e nothing is stressed or likely to rub if need be put some extra tape around, you can get good fabric tape (like from a modern harness) which will help neaten things up a bit..
hope this helps, get in touch if you get any dramas and i'll see what i can do to help..
Good Luck!!
