Wiring for Tow Bar on TD5

Do I need to wire into the plug or can I just scotch lock directly onto the wires for the trailer socket connection that exists behind the osr light cluster?

Also does anyone know how to get the code for the sterio?! I've just bought a 53 plate TD5 and we discovered that the sterio wasn't working on route home with it from the garage! They are prepared to sort it, however my OH managed to get power to it. Only snag is it's looking for a code and there isn't one in the handbook info that came with the car.

You can get the code from any main dealer. I once did it over the phone (so much for security).

You can also get a plug that plugs into the socket but nothing to stop either wiring straight in or scotchblocking.

Many thanks for that. I'll get in touch with a LR dealer and see what they say about the code.

I've been trying to find a plug to add on to the cable, thereby allowing me to put one plug into the other, but haven't had any success. I'm not prepared to buy one from a dealer at the £50 mark!!

If you go the scotchloc route then add a little grease before closing them, it keeps the damp out, otherwise later on the caravan/trailer lights start acting weird.
