Hi all, my electric mirrors on my D1 are goosed, I want to put on a set of D2 mirrors, the wiring and plugs are completely different, can anyone help me with the wiring conversion please. TIA

good morning, the d1 is 93/94. a year of change lol. I have found my haines extremely useful but there are still anomalies. the wiring on my D1 is pre 95 for the electric mirrors and heated rear window. it is the new mirrors that are the issue,
Now that i have taken the d2 mirror apart i now know that the pink and brown wires do one motor and the white and blue do another, the heated mirror is red/blk and blk, I need to look at the di wiring again to see if i can make this work. my lad has taken the d1 so i cant look until the weekend. many thanks for coming back to me. all help welcome

Do you have the RAVE manuals?
If not we'll put links up for you.
But it looks as if you have worked out what you need to do. All you need to get on with is using a meter to determine which wires cover which direction of movement. and match them to the ones on your new mirrors. :):):)

If you have a link to a RAVE which covers the 93/94 modell you are a happy man
Trust me to fu ck up again!
Howdy Sierra!
Re Rave, well my earliest Disco is 1998 so I guess i never tried looking for anything else on it.
Just checked, covers from 1995 MY. So yes, of course you are right. Amazed anything as simple as this will not be much the same as the 1995 MY on.
I am nowhere near as quick or as good as you at downloading pages of wiring diagrams from RAVE then posting them here. I honestly don't know how you do it. My bad.
But if he gets to look at Rave and crosschecks a couple of wire colours he ought to get an idea of whether this is a road to follow or not. RAVE ought to be useful to him for other stuff anyway.
Haynes wiring diagrams are a bit hit and miss tbh.:(

Here's diagram for D1 -'95 The wires for heated mirror should be Black/red for +12volts from heated rear screen circuit and Black (chassis ground) both sides

Well the OP will need a copy of the wiring diagram showing the D2 mirror circuits, so RAVE or a Haynes book would be handy along with the Haynes book for the D1.
He has giving a good title to this thread “wiring conversation” as that is what it is, and a bit more no doubt if D2 mirrors are involve which have the opening-closing function which assume that is why the D2 mirrors are being used in the OPs conversion.

As I expect you know with the 200series disco each mirror only has one motor, and four wires, both mirrors controlled by a single dedicated switch.
With the 300series disco each mirror has two motors, and six wires, both mirrors again controlled by a single dedicated switch.
So a bit of work there, but just for a couple of hours :)

You may not have noticed, quote “if D2 mirrors are involve which have the opening-closing function”.
You may not be surprised to know that I’m as familiar with the D2 specifications as I am for the D1 and of course the RRc.

OP never mentioned openingclosing function:rolleyes:

Try using a comma or two, when using relative clauses, to avoid ambiguity.
