I have a set of 215/60 R16 tyres, which I used on my previous car, a Skoda Yeti.

They are only 2.2% less overall than 225/65 R16, which equated to 15mm less on the diameter.

Would it be okay to use them on my '06 Freelander 1 if I bought a set of 16" alloy rims?

They are all Continental WinterContact tyres, but I have one pair which are TS810 and one pair which are TS830P. If there was any difference in size, I would put the larger ones on the back.

Could I get away with this?

Something not quite right here.

The normal OE 16" tyre size for the Freelander is 215/65 16 which is actually closer to the Conti winters size you have.

Your speedo will read a little faster with the 215/60s - but only about 1mph higher than what it would with the OE tyres so no problem there.

Fitting these tyres for winter should present no problem at all IMHO.

As you say actually measure the diameter and put the bigger ones on the rear.

Sorry, didn't make myself quite clear.... The car has 225/55 R17 evolution alloys on at the moment.

Thanks for the info. That is as I thought.

Just need to find a set of alloys with the correct offset which I believe is ET46.
