The buffalo is another one to look at but there's loads of good stuff no just what this old soldier recommends. I would just stay in doors

Got a buffalo Mountain shirt but it's getting on ab it. The montane is same idea but much thicker. full zip detachable hood. lovely gear..

When I was shooting my dog cut his foot.
If I would have had a dog first aid kit I could have dressed it.
And saved my self a small fortune at the vets the next day getting them to remove all the **** that got in his leg.
And it has a foil blanket in it too

when buying a torch to put in your landy get a wind up one as a torch with batteries in it will go dead with the cold , or even a wind up radio with torch and i think i have read some where you can get a wind up battery charger for a phone as any battery looses power in the cold or if you keep a phone in the car put it in a sock to keep it warm.if we go on a long journey in winter we always take a couple of flask's and coffee and tea bags along with out landy mugs ,the flask's are metal ones as if you drop them they do not break.

I run the risk of having a 5door Freelander develop into a 2-seater.

Actually it's not a proplem if you pack everything 'Tetris-style' in stacking fruit-boxes in the back.

I use those half-size boxes 30cm x 40cm that the supermarkets get oranges, lemons, limes etc in, and chuck out. Easy to get them in Lidl for example. Nice clean and even smell lovely.

They are free, interlock - so stack and don't slide, don't rattle, and don't damage the rear of the Freelander.

When not needed I keep them in the hall cupboard, ready to pop in the car.

Teddy made a good point about vacuum flasks and thermal mugs for a cuppa, by the way. I have a box with camping stove and kettle etc. for picnics, but decided against that being in the car over the winter - not a good idea to fire up a gas-stove in the back.

This is a fun thread, but it's great if folks are well prepared.

Just 'the normal' off-roading recovery gear, some spares, tools, water (drinking and Landy), oils, torches, stove and gas, some food, extra clothes and boots, and a sleeping bag.

Depends where I'm going though, short journeys don't worry, anything out in the fields I prepare enough for a day or three ..

No, No - It's for IF you get stuck - probably due to other less able vehicles blocking the route.

Mrs SV reckons if I had been in charge of emergency kit on the RMS Titanic there would have been spare lifeboat capacity.

And they would have a large Fortnum & Mason Hamper in each one.
