For the last couple of years I have been promising to get the rubber seal on the windscreen of my 90 (200Tdi) changed, the old seal being old and crusty and generally breaking up.
So I have had a new seal in stock waiting for me to pluck up the cohones to get on with it, being a bit wary of the job, I have just ignored it, always on the bottom of the list.
Then I decided to pay a garage who specialises in classic cars and windscreens to do the job. I supply the seal and €70.00 and they do the job while I go and have a coffee. As luck would have it they bust the screen, so it is decided that they supply and fit a new screen and seal - the blame was put on the seal I supplied, well it was Britpart - the costs to be borne by my insurers, as if broken by a stone or some such. Job done a couple of days later, all well and good, the bill I was given was €770.00 , good job the insurers are going to pay it, I presented them with the bill the next day.
Anyway, one bonus to come from this, I took out the dash/heater vent panel to make access easier, and before putting all back together I modified the washer system, this has turned into a huge improvement on the old system. I shall link to a vid below.
