Windscreen seal

Hi
Just working my way around an old 110 TD5 I've bought recently. Have managed to stop most of the leaks (a miracle) but my windscreen rubber seal is perished and looks like it needs replacing. I don't want the bulkhead to rust!
I've heard the screen removal is probably best left to the experts. Any recommendations on mobile companies that cover Berkshire and whether the after market seals are OK or not?

screen removal is easy if rubber if US, Stanley knife but be careful not to scratch the paint or cut yourself. Fitting your first screed is Scary, if you feel upto it look on youtube use thick rope around 8mm diameter, take your time and don't press the screen pull the rope. Or use a local independent window fitter about £30 plus seal

If paying someone to fit, then I would get them to supply their own seal, because if the screen broke you wouldn't want them blaming the seal being 'cheap crap'
Although I have used and fitted a few Bearmach seals on my projects.

Autoglass etc will only fit using their own seals. They might only fit their own screens too!

Yes I was reading about the aftermarket seals and think I might just get the fitter to order and supply his own, so there are no arguments, should he mess up. I would have a go at it myself- but not done a screen before so will probably go with the fitters

I would do it yourself, it seriously took me 15 mins to put the seal onto the glass and run the paracord around the edge, then 30 seconds to fit it. You obv need two people to line it all up, but it is really that easy. There is a great guide somewhere if you want me to find it

Autoglass now will no longer supply and fit the seal only; they will only do the screen together with seal for £278. Then I got through to someone else at Autoglass and they said they could do a 'fit only' for £93 but I will need to supply my own seal- the genuine ones are £100.. Are any of the aftermarket ones any good?

I did mine on Saturday, used a bearmach seal and it fitted a treat. Took longer to put the seal on the glass than it did fitting it, have to say it was pretty simple to fit.
