Winch????????

don't be silly. i fitted my winch to my front bumper, just cut the bumper in two and with some plate and a welder made my own winch bumper, strong enough to, pull a rangie out of trouble the other week and yesterday pulled trees away from house when felling, in fact the winch was pulling the mota, so easily strong enough.

I used to have 1 on an old modified V8, someone had cut the middle section of the bumper out and welded a custom made plate from the bumper to the chassis. it was on it for years. the big difference is the manufactured winch bumpers have been load tested and so you know exactly what they can take, a DIY jobbie is only as good as the welder who made it for you. and not tested.

I too would like to have a subtle winch as my current V8 is used as a familly car and the mrs isnt too keen on on all the extreme off road look.

I toyed with the idea of having the winch hidden and only a slit with the shackle end visable (i think i seen one like that on a disco3 recently) or even having it situated behind the number plate with hinges/spring on the top of the plate so when you want to use it the plate springs/lifts up.

But to be honest i'll prob not fit 1, for the amount of offroading my truck does at the mo i think its adequately prepared.:)

gonna start green laning and may on the odd occasion some moderate legal off roading and dont ever want to get stuck but I do want to keep the disco mild i do use it to tow me mams caravan lol

Seems to be enough for what the intensions are...
