winch security

Well missis has informed me shes getting me a winch of xmas woop happy about that but i want to keep it theres alot off thefts in are area and i know if someone see a shiny which there would have no second though off robbing it.

just wondering what people have done for security ect or have they just bolted it and never had any problems ect

i spotted this on ebay which seems a good idea but its then being able to take off for maintances ect

Use a key bolt to lock it in place? Cover bolts so it takes to long to unbolt but will make maintenance harder! I think it's a case of harder to steal is a direct result of harder to remove! Find a balance that lets you sleep at night!

i used shear bolts pita to remove but wond go missing in a hurry

if someone could steal the winch what's stopping them taking the whole vehicle?

Big ass winches are heavy and slow, why are you going so big?

To remove mine you need to remove the bumper its a snug fit.

Second thoughts you could dismantle it in place.

Rather have something over the top than making something smaller struggle

Get an 8274

I took the solenoid off the top of the winch and extended the cables so i could mount it high on the inner wing, it keeps it away from the water when your wading and also allows you to cut a smaller hole in the grill, and it might make them think twice about stealing it if they cant get the solenoid.

weld the bolts on! they wont remove welded bolts in a hurry or quietly

I welded a cap made from box section over one of the winch mount bolts and one of the bumper mount bolts, will need a grinder to get them off

Anyday great winch

I have superwinch tiger shark and its never left me stranded,I always have a snatch block with me just incase I need nine tonnes of pull. Works well, lighter line and lighter winch, it's rareI use the snatch as most pulls are just to get out of super sticky mud.

Good to here, im going for a Tigershark soon

Goodwinch Goldfish for me. Can't can't fault it. Welded it to the winch bumper and then welded the bumper to chassis.

My budget is £300 so warn or anything like that is out the question .

you can get a warn for under that if you look in the right places i paid £150 for my 8274
