Thanx Griffdowg for trying to rescue my hijacked post ;), although the banter is amusing.
However your comment is bang on right now about not needing competition level equipment, as I`m only in my 2nd week of Landy ownership, and still finding out about my vehicle. We are going out greenlaning in Thetford forest on the 11th ..........so it begins!
I hope to join a club and move on to more challenging courses but all in good time. This does mean I would like to replace rough/worn parts with an eye to the future in case I get bitten by the bug :)
£20(steel) versus £150(plasma) is a powerful argument, especially if you can reduce potential failure with regular maintenance.
Thanx all for the responses.

Well in my opinion if it counts

WIRE= Strong (if maintained), Safe (if used properly) Snatch & blanket,CHEAP! Looks good? easy to wind in? Need gloves! You can Drag it over anything!

ROPE= EXPENSIVE, Strong & light, Dont Need gloves, You do have to inspect it just as much as wire! It can snag on sharps or incorrect pulley blocks (if you dare use one) Safe as in it wont take your head off but not safe if you haven't spotted a sharp & your on near vertical a hill LOL

Just my two pence i spose!
