Will this work ................ or won't it?

I have a 1998 Defender Wolf with a faulty water temperature gauge.
I'm after an AMR2632 but have been offered a PRC3163, also a 24v unit.
Will this fit, and if so, will it work?
Answers would be appreciated greatly,

It depends if they used the same sender on the engine.

It's got a 300tdi 2.5 turbo fitted, standard for a Wolf.
