Hi all,

Have a rather uncommon question in mind and I wonder whether there is an answer to it. As I'm thinking of keeping the Hippo as long as possible, as the SWAMBO is suffering of a bad back, as I assume the seats in the Disco/Range are more comfortable than those in the Hippo, I had, in a gust of insanity:D, the wild idea of possibly swop her seat for one of those. So my question is, would this be possible ? Is the undercarriage of the seats the same and is it enough to undo let's say 4 screws and lift/put down etc....?????

Dont know.... But me finks...

Disco/ rangie seats will be too high and unless SWMBO is a short arse or likes travelling with head out of sun roof then the limited head room of FL will be a problem..

As long as any seats are correct size then normally easy enough to make an adapter plate to take mounts....

Keep original seats and swap SWMBO for one thats not broken :lalala:

FL1 seats have different height "legs" on either side of the frame to accomodate the large transmission tunnel, so I think it would need to be dedicated seats.

Hi Willo,
My SWMBO has suffered this problem for years. We have tried various cushions. bolsters etc all to no avail. Then a friend told us about an inflatable travel cushion and the problem is no more! I know I sound like a TV advert, but believe me it really helped. Perhaps you have already tried this, but in case you haven't, they can be purchased at a camping shop. I have included a pic. for you.

Fyi. That last suggestion is out of the question, as a matter of fact this saturday we're celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary, so .... Besides, why would I try to find a Citroën 2CV when I have a RollsRoyce at home ?? :p:p

Hi Eric,
Think I'll try out something like that as other things probably out of the question. (See input below).

Could I suggest seats form a Facelift Freelander. The seats I have on my 04 HSE are very comfy and more than good enough for a few hours at the wheel.

Told all about this to my immediate commanding officer and things will have to stay as they are, especially as we are not doing long trips at all anymore. The fartest is to the seaside which takes about an hour (120 km of motorway). Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

These look comfy and very supportive in the lumbar region ;) and FIA approved!!!

Sparco Seats - Rev 5 Plus FIA Approved Bucket Seat from SportSeats4u.co.uk

Anything is possible Willo, there are peeps who have converted standard Rover/MG seats to sports seats using the existing cradle/carriage.....a few adjustments mind you!

Hi NI,

Yes, I know, in my previous car (190E) I fixed my seat as well. That was easy as the back could zip open both sides so from the back I had an easy access to the sides of the back of the seat which I made a little thicker, to give better side support in the turns on the road, did this by pushing lengths of foam into it? It worked very well. Only differences are that with the Hippo this can't be done as the seats don't zip and secondly, we are another 20 years further ......:D:D:D:D
