Why so many land rovers?

While I was driving with the Mrs a few months ago she said,
"people who have land rovers always seen to have more than one, why is that?"
I said "maybe it's addictive"
But after owning one for 6 months I now know they have them for PARTS!

Maybe not a discovery though but it has to have a green oval.
