Hi,

I'm pritty new here and theres a lot (well some) mention of the fact that red ones dont go up hills,

Can someone inlighten me as to why, i take it its an inside joke, will i be shunned if i buy a red one?

Or is it ture and they dont? :)

Thanks

apparently the colorant they used in the paint for the red ones interferes with the ECU when the vehicle is at angles of 20 degrees or more

dont think the newer ones are so bad

i would suspect when i was in an Olive one stuck behind a 4T bedford, but that would be onroad.

is this why mountian rescue ones are white not red like some of the older ones i remember?

Exactly, the red paint also used to cause molecular disarray in the fuel lines in the olders ones, then as said above the ECU's were problematic.

Whilst these reasons may well be valid, you have overlooked the obvious. As red has the longest wavelength of any of the visible colours (and you wouldn't want to pain it in an invisible colour now would you!!!) this effectively reduces the number of wave sines emmitted by the vehicle. Whilst the average landy has enough power to propel it up a hill, it is touch and go, and is only made possible by the tiny increase in propulsion provided by the millions of waves of light emanating from the vehicle. Whilst these individually provide very little difference, there are so many of them that it just tips the landy in favour of going up hills...except the red ones, which, as the wavelength is longer, emanate slightly fewer waves for your money, which is why they fail on hills.

Oh, and they're ****e too. Except Disco girl's, which was clearly fitted with a better engine than most.

Wow,

i never new there where so many draw backs to red, does this mean yellow farraris are faster than red ones too :)

There's an obvious joke about Italian things going backwards, but I just can't bring myself down to that level .... can I?.... no.

You can make alterations which seem to help. The biggest difference is to get one with a white roof, it seems to give about 2-3mph more uphill. The other thing i've got are black wheel arches which allow the wheels to rotate at a higher speed. Be careful fitting them though as if you putt them on back to front you'll go no-where. Good luck with your purchase

no cos they make you look like a nob!

Believe it or not, my red one has atually over taken cars...uphill.
I think that probably because all the filler makes it lighter and the painting of primer and mud brown starts to negate the red colour

Jo jammy, you are clearly mistaken, those cars were on the other side of the road coming DOWN the hill and you were in a layby, stationary! it ain't the same thing!
