Who removes their prop 8 months of the year?

265/70 r 15 suzuki fitment weller wheels.... I got muddled up with the pcd as some suzuki cars run a 114.3 mm (4.5 inch) pcd but most of the 4x4s run a 139.8 mm (5.5inch) pcd..... Grrrr

The vcu on my FL 1 started to tighten up so off came the the prop,,I thought the drive was no where near as composed as in 4wd didn't notice any difference in fuel econamy.Had recon vcu fitted with carrier bearings at my local indipendant landyspecilist £330.the difference on and off road is amazing ,I found there to be a big difference new versus recon.

Do you only drive on level flat tarmac , as there would appear to be almost no clearance for suspension travel ?
 
Err - look a bit closer. they are not even bolted to anything. Just standing in front of the hippo and i chose a clever camera angle........

I would need a fit and adapters to even try to fit them and even then I don't think they will go on without further modifications to the body.

Sorry didnt pay that much attention , as you see such things quite often , thought you were just such another , none intended :)
 
why remove if you got a freelander you want a 4x4 towing snow mud etc . if you want to take the prop off why :confused:just buy a car .

The suggestion in the magazine was to remove it to save wear on the VCU if you don't do any off-roading & refit it for the winter months in case it snows.
 
Peeps like driving Freelanders. They like the driving position, the feel of the drive, the quality of the ride and the comfort it brings. They're safe in the knowledge their go anywhere vehicle is the best. Those who don't need 4x4 or choose to avoid or not repair transmission faults can remove the prop and theres nothing wrong with that. If it keeps them Freelandering and happy, then so be it. It's the dodgy reconditioners that supply 2 wheel drive ird's that cause the problem. You can't tell if the pinion is fitted unless you test it.
 
Would also help if the bigger picture was addressed such as stopping the obsession by local councils in CREATING congestion points to 'slow us down'. Then charging us for the congestion....
