Any help would be appreciated, my 2056 td6 3.0 has white smoke and losing power. After reading allsorts on Google im left thinking like when you Google a splinter answers are usually your about to die lol. Any help on where to start looking first or a reason for it, just bought it and it's my first range rover, so all this is new to me, thanks for any help.

2056?
If you've just bought it & it was from a car dealer/ car sales business take it back.
Problem is white smoke can be a number of things & as you've found Google isn't necessarily your friend!
Are you losing any coolant?
Have you had a diagnostic done with proper LR specific kit to see what fault codes are showing?

I didn't buy it from a dealer, and there's no warnings on the dash either, its just started the problems I explained, I know there money pits but I wanted it, she's only done 95k

I know it is a Friday night, and a lot of people like a drink on a Friday.

But just trying to think through this. You are a female aged 45, but sign your post Allan, you type everything in bold, and you have a car that won't be built for 35 years.

Welcome to LZ anyway, you should fit right in! :)

And take a bit more water with the whisky.;) I only clicked on when I saw Vicky.:D:D

There are two types of “white smoke” you typically see with a diesel. One is unburnt diesel. This is raw diesel that hasn’t been burnt in the engine, passing through to the exhaust. It is usually caused by late injection timing. With a mechanical set up, the cause is usually worn timing chain or pump drive gears. With a common rail set up, it could be electronic, or more related to one or more of the injectors being worn, clogged or needing a good clean. Try some injector cleaner. Any issues with late timing or clogged injectors will result in a decrease in power.

If the white smoke is only there for a short time after start up, it is usually a faulty glow plug, once again causing unburnt fuel to go out of the exhaust, until the engine is hot enough to guarantee combustion.

However, is could be that your white smoke is a head gasket leak or cracked head, allowing coolant into a cylinder, and passing out to the exhaust. This will also generate white smoke. If it is a head gasket, it could be a reason it is down on power. Does the truck use coolant? If the answer is no, never need to top it up, then this is unlikely to be the problem.

If the white smoke is only there for a short time after start up, it can also be condensation in the exhaust, but as it's down on power it's not likely to be that.
I'd get a leak off test done on the injectors. The Td6 straight six is not known for head or gasket failures, nor does it have a water cooled EGR as far as I'm aware.

No but I've seen it on telly :D
I've been twice, total time of 20minutes. We used to have a place about half an hour inland.drove there in the winter because it was raining and we needed something to do. Went into a "Spanish" bar and asked for a carajillo quemado, the bar tender looked at me as I I had just landed from another planet, think he was a cockyknee., turned round and walked out. The second time we fancied an Indian curry, found a place and got what tasted like tomato sauce with curry powder mixed in. Never went a third time.

So glad I'm not the only one on that train of thought. :)
