Which thermostat?..

The temperature needle on my 1973 Series 3 has been creeping towards the red zone after driving it for a while... As an emergency measure my local garage drilled three holes in the diaphragm of the thermostat which seems to have solved the problem thus proving a sticky thermostat was most likely the cause... but obviuousy I need to replace the thermostat. My usual Land Rover parts supplier lists two thermostats for my Landy; with different temperature ratings - something like 74 and 82 degrees... Which one do I use?

the lower rating is for summer and the higher rating is for winter

personally id pick the lower one as i tend to make my vehicles work

Pretty sure you can get a 78 Deg C one too!!
