Which shocks pls

Hi Folks,

I have a 110 high cap converted tipper with twin rear springs,she can take a fair bit of weight
only the shocks have given out now and need a really good heavy duty replacement...any sergestions would be great? shes has Terrafermas on at the moment and have been very good ...nice ride

Not really, everything else is mostly advanced or serious 'off road' stuff, high impact-long travel stuff, fast recovery dampers.

If you have a tipper you really need something designed for additional weight, and stability. Hence the TF HD commercials. They are designed for military / commercial use. Some of the electrcity network defenders with cherry pickers etc have them fitted.

Yes great..they sound good im getting a lot of rocking from side to side when driving across the field,the tipper is high sided and full of logs
and on road she is bouncing up and down...all good fun,Just located a pair on Ebay for £116 which sound good to me with free delivery

Maybe look at HD springs, the springs are actually the 'shock absorber' the dampers just stop them boinging up and down constantly after you hit a bump or hole, so HD springs would limit the amount of pitch /yaw lurching you are experiencing with the TF HD dampers in term keeping them in check.

I always think its funny the way we call dampers shock absorbers and the actual 'shock absorbers'-springs!

Too much spring on the rear is not good

I had the 2"lift but it does cause the rear of the motor to wobble if I put to much weight in the trailer. Or in the back
Trailer is max 3.5t with horses.

Land rover do HD springs, have a google for the colour codes.
I had Bilstein dampers on mine for the best part of 10 years, if I could afford them again I would buy them at the drop of a hat, ive just ordered some Armstrongs though cos I'm skint.

my main problem is there is no weight in the back when empty. Very lively off road.
And as this was built to move farm junk I needed the extra lift so does not look over loaded.

I may go back to progressive springs when the motor retires

Agree, shame I like some of the TF stuff, but not into lifts.
I have standard height Pro Sport TF's on the 90, but don't think they make them anymore, got them around 3 yrs ago

yea was just nosin around on the TF site. I fancy some tubular turrets.
If you doing the shocks may as well pop some fresh springs in at same time, proving wallet will play ball of course.

I like a lot of their own design stuff, (suspension, hubs, diffs) but they have got a wider range now and some of it is 'buy in' and not so good.
EG the silicone hoses have a bad rep for bursting.

I also have the non self return steering damper, ever considered their one?
Its stiffer so when you have a heavy load helps you out a lot. I have around 1km of unmade pothole to my house from a main road, then a pig of a hill 100M to house, I can drive up the in first feet off and let go of steering wheel it, the damper keeps things straight, the kids think its autopilot!

Unsure who these were from. Makes changes any shocks/bushes a dream. Get stainless rings. These are over 10 years old

Who needs a steering damper?

Changed the steering drop arm to accept track rods. And rear drag link is upgraded so can't fit on back. This also was a few years back
