Bought what I was told was a series 2a but on closer inspection I think it could be a series 3 is there any thing I could look for that would differently. Tell me which it is

Interior dash plastic in series 3 but could have ser3 bulkhead retro fitted to a series 2 Windscreen hinges box section on bulkhead series 3 flat plate series 2

Chassis is the important thing. Series 2 will have gussets on the crossmember at the front of the gearbox. The area by the front flexis is very different as well. But the cross member is easiest to see.
